What are Roller Blinds?
The clue’s in the name! Roller blinds unroll to cover windows. The blind is a piece of a specific fabric, which is wrapped around a casing that goes on the top of the window frame.
They come in many different models – they can be motorised, adjusted with a chain mechanism, or spring-loaded.
There are many different styles to choose from, and we make most ourselves in-house at The Hessian Company in Paignton, Devon.
Types of Roller Blinds
Not so long ago, roller blinds were used to completely block out light. To allow some light to enter the room, you had to adjust the height of the blinds. These days, there are more choices available:
- Blackout blinds come in far more colours than ever before.
- Light filter roller blinds allow filtered light to enter into your room.
- Sunscreen roller blinds filter out harmful UV radiation while also providing great outdoor visibility compared to light filter blinds.
- Bonded roller blinds with fabric bonded to the surface of the blind to create a decorative finish.
Why Choose Roller Blinds?
Roller blinds are one of the most popular options when it comes to blinds. You will find them in homes, public buildings, and businesses because of the following reasons:
Versatility: With many available colour options there is a perfect design for every space.
Durability: Due to their design, they open and close really well, meaning there is a low chance of wear.
Low Maintenence: Easily wipe most roller blind fabrics clean.
Easy to Operate: Simply pull a cord, or even just press a button for motorised varieties.
Inexpensive: Transform your home without breaking the bank with these decorative pieces that bring your window areas to life.
How to Style Roller Blinds
They can be used for various purposes, and also be dressed up or down depending on their surroundings to add to the aesthetic of a room.
Stand Alone Style
Roller blinds can be perfect for people who adore a minimalist design and a simply arranged home. They are a great addition for any window on their own – with a wide range of finishes, you can always choose your own model that expresses your taste with simplicity.
Curtains with Blinds
Adding curtains can be perfect for additional control of light and even temperature in the cold months. You can also find curtains in many designs and colours so you can let your imagination fly and create the room of your dreams.
If you have multiple windows, adding blinds to each can create a consistent and appealing look around your home. The effect is greater if you have windows that are near each other. If you’re feeling brave you could even mix and match blind designs… but we won’t force that upon you!
